Rejuvenating a 30 Year Legacy

The Westfall Team has successfully trained industry-leading software engineers for over 30 years. Since the early 2000’s, Linda Westfall has led her team by guiding software engineers as they grow from developers to team managers.

The Westfall Team’s legacy continues to grow in the midst of its third decade of excellence. Westfall felt there was a need to update their branding and messaging for their educational assets.

The Goal

The Westfall Team needed a full brand redesign. Westfall wanted to keep its style similar to their existing brand while elevating their aesthetic to propel them into the next thirty years of achievement.

The Discovery

Every Brand Identity package with Biaka Works begins with the crucial Discovery Phase. We firmly believe that your business or organization already has a unique brand, and it’s our job to ask the best questions and work with you to discover and verbalize your one-of-a-kind identity.

After going through our branding questionnaire and meeting for a few conversations, we came to understand The Westfall Team’s goal to develop their brand as a resource for software development managers. Linda Westfall, the team leader, has always had a passion for sharing her knowledge, experience, and time to help train new software development managers.

The Design

The Westfall Team logo redesign didn’t have to start from scratch. Our team observed that the original logo carried the distinct style of early 2000’s design, but didn’t reflect the quality of service and experience of The Westfall Team due to the low resolution and limited brand assets.

“We want our colors to remain the same but to mean something to us and our clients. We want clients to see our logo and recognize its ‘us’, while building new meanings in each of the elements.”

At the beginning of the design process, we attempted to create something totally distinct from the original Westfall brand. Straying further and further away from the original brand wasn’t a good fit for the Westfall team. Our team sat down with Linda from the Westfall Team and designed, discussed, brainstormed for a little more than 5 hours. By the end of it, we were proud of what we had designed, and Linda saw her brand evolve into what The Westfall Team needed.

The Feedback

I first hired Biaka to work on rebranding my company. My logos and other branding were very 1999s which was when I started my company. He went above and beyond in creating exactly what I wanted. He worked with me, listened to me, and explained every step of the process. He created not only my branding but also PowerPoint templates so that I could easily update all of my courses to the new branding. His work modernized my branding and brought my course materials into the 21st century. I love the new look.
